Policy & Training

Our scientists take our combined data and expertise to governments, advising on how to preserve sharks, rays and reefs. For example, our work with Belize led to the establishment of the world's first ray sanctuary.

We also work with local scientists and organizations in the areas we study, providing trainings that empower them to continue research efforts.

Field Research

Your support keeps Global FinPrint researchers traveling to remote areas and equipped with the tools they need, such as:

  • Waterproof action cameras to record sea life
  • Hard drives to store hundreds of hours of video
  • Collapsible BRUV frames
  • Water quality and current meters
  • Bait for the BRUVs

Education

We want to use our experiences and our visually engaging data to engage students and the community. Our goals are to share our baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVS) videos and field footage; develop interactive content and documentaries to tell our story; and produce activities, materials and lesson plans for K-12 students.

Give to Shark and Ray Conservation Efforts

Donations will benefit the continued valuable work of The Shark and Ray Global Conservation Initiative, which will include but is not limited to the following activities: education, field equipment and supplies, and reef conservation.

Our team thanks you for your generosity and for your help ensuring the future of coral reef shark and ray species. Please contact the Florida International University College of Arts, Sciences & Education Advancement Team to discuss how you can help the project.
